Mentally Fulfilled.

Her off work days were almost over. She had no big plans for the day. She wanted to call-off the last day of holiday in a peaceful way before she resumes the work in her cubical next day.

She walks to her book shelf and looks for something to read. Something which is very simple and true. A story which is not very thought provoking or contemplating. A story that would not ask her to concentrate much amidst those annoying sound of vehicles horn honking coming through slightly open french window of her room. She could find no such book in her extra small library.

She was not willing to write, not as much as she was looking for a simple story to read.

Bit disappointed, she gave up and headed to her bed for an afternoon nap while fingers scrolling through some old conversations in her cell phone. Suddenly one of the conversations that made her to stop scrolling any further, read as:

“ARE YOU ASKING ME FOR A DATE? I JUST DON’T KNOW IF I’M READY TO LOSE MYSELF IN THE COMPANY OF SOMEONE.”

In another few seconds she was screaming loud within her head in joy and excitement. These two sentences from a chat transcript was ideally the story she was looking for.

One simple, true and complete story in itself. Inconclusive, yet complete.

  1. “Inconclusive, yet complete.” To me these three words tell another story, the story of how I have lived my life in many ways. One simple example is that of smoking. I quit smoking many years ago. That was it. Completed. But then six years later, the night my son was born, I started again. I still hadn’t completed the story of my smoking. I quit again, again and again, until. finally, for the past twenty years I have successfully quit. I could say the same about marriage and career.

Thank you for this thought-provoking post.

    With admiration, Richard

    • Thank you, Rye. We both, in that case, know her. I am forever afraid of losing myself in the company of others.
And then there are people in whose company I dive deep and seem to find myself.
      Have a great day.
